Blackrock Casino is thrilled by the response to its three-a-side Streetball Soccer event which took place on Sunday the 10th of July 2011. A total of 36 teams participated in the competition and hundreds of people gathered at the sidelines to cheer and show their support.

The tournament was open to families, businesses, sports clubs or any community groups. The tournament was played in the parking lot at the casino, with teams chasing miniature soccer balls and scoring goals in mini goal posts. A total of R6 000 was up for grabs in the competition.

The winning team was “Team Parts People” and the participants walked away with R3 000 in prize money and a floating trophy. In second place with a win of R2 000 was “Tsotsi FC” and in third place with a win of R1 000 was “Streetwire”. 

A few fun awards were presented to the following teams:
Coach of the Tournament: MSC College
Best Team Camp: Majuba Lodge
Fair Play Award: Autozone
Best Dressed Team: Zero Defect Construction
Best Supported Team: NCC College

“It was a fantastic event, with great camaraderie and loads of laughs. We really were bowled over by the response we got for the Streetball Soccer Tournament. It offered a wonderful opportunity for colleagues, friends and families to come together and have some healthy outdoor fun.
