CANSA Shavathon 2011
The CANSA Shavathon once again this year presented an opportunity for South Africans to show solidarity with cancer survivors and Blackrock Casino staff made sure they were right there where the action took place!
More than nine Blackrock employees took off to the Amajuba Mall in Newcastle on Saturday, where they shaved all their hair off or just sprayed some crazy colors into it! “It was great fun and we were glad to be able to acknowledge those people fighting cancer and also honour loved ones who have passed on but most importantly to actively join in the fight against cancer with the rest of South Africa,” comments John McGregor, General Manager at Blackrock Casino & Entertainment complex.
Pledges can also be made annually over the Shavathon period which are utilized by CANSA for wide-reaching service including prevention and education programmes, patient care and support in the form of 12 Interim Homes in the main metropolitan areas for out-of-town cancer patients, support centers that offer stoma and lymphoedema clinics, medical equipment hire, toll-free line and support to children and their families affected by cancer.
“We enjoyed every minute of it and the best part was that it’s for a great cause!” says John. |
