In the acquisition of KwaZulu-Natal's Century Casino Newcastle by Leisure industry giant Tsogo Sun Gaming there have been changes to the way in which they are currently doing business. Last night the changes became more apparent with the launch of the new name “Blackrock”
“Blackrock was derived by the staff of the property”, says John McGregor the General Manager of Blackrock. The staff had to give a rationale to the name and they believed that in order to derive diamonds you need a Blackrock under pressure; they believe they are the precious stone in Newcastle.
In light of this acquisition, Blackrock will be a part of the seven casinos in five provinces and 89 hotels in eight countries, making the Group one of the largest hospitality operators in South Africa. “Blackrock will have new technology from the group such as the CRM tool, Business Intelligent tool, e-hosts and others which gives us a competitive advantage in the market place” says Thapelo Modise Marketing Manager of Blackrock.
Blackrock situated in the heart of the battlefields just off the N11 en route from Durban to Johannesburg, enjoys a unique position within KZN. The complex boasts 250 state-of-the-art slot machines with denominations ranging from 2c to R10, seven roulette, blackjack and poker tables, a Salon Privé, Spa & Wellness Centre, food court, 120-seat international fine dining Mid City Grill restaurant, one bar, family entertainment, conference venues and luxurious 40-room hotel.
“We wish the property all the success and the community will see a change in the way we do business” says Dave Seaton.
